Volunteers Are Our Greatest Resouce

The Suicide & Crisis Center relies on the time, talent, and generosity of people like you.
Crisis Line
Personal crisis. Depression. Suicide. The dedicated volunteers of the Suicide & Crisis Center offer hope and encouragement to people who can see no way out of their personal crises. People in need call us at the rate of 1,500 per month. Someone always answers, thanks to the incredible committment of our staff more than 100 trained volunteers.
Grief Counseling and Support
When suicide strikes close to the home, school or business, Suicide & Crisis Center volunteers are there to offer grief counseling and help survivors cope with the tragedy.
Education, Information and Training
When schools, churches and other community groups ask for information about crisis intervention and suicide prevention, volunteers from our Speakers' Bureau are ready to help. And when mental health professionals and hostage negotiators need training in the expert handling of people in emotional crisis, we supply it.

You Can Make a Difference

You can become a part of the vital work of the Suicide & Crisis Center. Training classes for crisis counseling are offered throughout the year. After training and internship, counselors are asked to commit to one telephone counseling shift per week, plus attendance at monthly continuing education meetings.
