Crisis Debriefing Services

Addressing Those Intimately Affected by a Suicide

"Crisis Debriefing Services" refers to support group meetings for friends, employees, peers and/or family members of people who have completed suicide. We serve all ages.

A staff person coordinates a team of trained volunteers who go within 24 to 48 hours to wherever the survivors are located: schools, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and sometimes private homes.

Our goals are to answer questions posed by the survivors, help lift confusion that inevitably surrounds a suicide, and orient survivors to the grief experience so that they will know what to expect. In schools, our Crisis Debriefing facilitators frequently meet with the deceased person's classmates, teachers and guidance counselors. They also are often asked to work with parent groups.
